Not only is the label retro-fabulous, the contents are excellent!
If you're a bride and groom with a chapel wedding coming up, consider the bottle above. Our delightful hosts for yesterday's Christmas Day Dinner served it. It was truly excellent. Light, very French, young and drinkable. Dry, so I wouldn't buy a zillion bottles (although you could always let Cap help you with that..heheh)but it would be a great red wine alternative for your upcoming reception. Just throwing that out there. Apparently, it's very well priced in the $10 r

The perfect wedding reception becomes "unsinkable" with the inclusion of this Titanic repr
Ok, so the original voyage of this particular pattern on the R.M.S. Titanic didn't work out as planned, but that doesn't mean your wedding reception will hit any rough water at the Chapel at Caliber Oak! Especially if you decide to include this teapot as well as maybe a few others in a tea service for your guests? In any case, the pot is delightful, and quite nice. We're anxious to use it. Stop by for tea sometime soon, but hold the ice. Can't wait to holler one of my fav

What in the world? It happened at the chapel, and it's amazing!
Well, not every activity that happens at the chapel is wedding related, as most of you know. Today's fun activity was cinnamon roll baking with Cindy Cashion, using The Pioneer Woman's recipe. Amazing, as always, and this little picture is Cindy's dozen (or actually 11...we nibbled) headed home to her house. Richard will certainly love these as much as Denise and I will, and while they're not the easiest thing to make, they're certainly worth the effort in the end! Otherwi

A custom-crafted motorcar honeymoon with vintage/retro hotels/motels as destinations?
Maybe it's just the Boss and I that think this kind of honeymoon has potential. It wouldn't be for everyone, but there's something about a retro motor-trip to key vintage motels that could be mapped out and discovered. So many of them are located near unique sights and points of interest. Just a thought. We did an online search for ourselves for some overnights, and came across some really neat vintage haunts that look like fun. Just a thought...just a thought. This pho

Matching Mugs that Reflect the Couple's Style... Winter Wedding Fun!
The only thing better than freshly brewed coffee, exotic tea or decadent hot chocolate at your wedding is a unique, love-inspired keepsake mug. The mug needn't be a 'monogrammed' or 'personalized' item, but a relatively inexpensive.but.unique mug that's just right for the couple. This vintage Buick mug right here fits the bill, from my perspective.....course, that's just ME! We just love this great mug from Angie's Attic in Athens, Texas...since it kind of has a holiday fe

When it's teatime at the chapel...
And what a happy little group of sippers we have here. All done up in their teatime finery! The hats look great, and Mrs. Boss looks like she just stepped off the set of "A Place to Call Home"! What a fun day for the ladies AND the gents that served them! A nice, relaxing day at Caliber Oak today. Miss EmmyLou made it to town and back with a little bit of stalling at takeoff from stoplights, but our 1951 Chevrolet guru will figure that one out as well. Made home-made pizz

The boss' breakfast was a great reminder this morning of the excellent brunch weddings planned f
We are huge fans of the brunch wedding. Classy, elegant, piano music in the background...tinkling of champagne glasses filled with mimosas or madras... Just a lovely country-clubbish vintage setting and party. We're very excited that in 2019, we have several brunch themed weddings coming up! Easier than some dinner-time events for the bride and groom, and it leaves a lot of the day for other activities with family and friends, with a chance to enjoy some beautiful weather

See what happens when you turn us loose with $50 at flea market?!?!? Never-ending photos of antique
Sorry, but it's just about impossible for us not to share the pictures of these excellent finds. We must keep telling ourselves, "it's for our brides", but we secretly enjoy using and having such fine items as well! This set of 5 antique, very fine china dessert plates are originally from Germany and probably were produced around 1918-1925. Amazingly fine composition, and the floral detail is nice, as well. The beaded gold rim is also in excellent shape, so we don't belie

Another fun, new plate for chapel festivities!
The pursuit of the flea market dishware finds for the chapel is an ongoing treat for Mrs. Boss and I. It's so fun skimming around the market to see what great bargain finds are there. This particular piece is a late '30's to mid '50's "gimme plate", since it was provided to the owner as a loyalty reward for shopping at this particular store in Illinois. That's the fun of it! The stories these dishes could tell in their past. How did it get to East Texas? Who owned it?
