Labor Day weekend fun times

Happy Labor Day! What a fun filled weekend for me. What an absolute treat that I had the opportunity to spend hours with 2 of the Chapel couples. Friday afternoon I headed to Sharon and Rick Gibb's house for dinner, conversation and pool time. Had such a delicious dinner of 4 different types of pizzas. Rick made them all from scratch, even the crust. They all were so yummy. Had one piece each and fortunately I was sent home with some so get to enjoy a few more pieces this week. Their backyard is so inviting with the pool and so refreshing. I was thankful I could go over early since I then had to get up early to head to Edmond OK. When Christina and Jacob came to Rick's funeral I was just thrilled to see them. Even though they are living in Kansas, they had another family event that week so it worked out beautifully that they then could attend the funeral. We talked and I said we need to make sure we get together. Christina found the half way mark and we lucked out that is where Bruce lives. So magically, Labor Day weekend worked for all 4 of us. It was amazing since it was such a short throw. We had SO much fun. They love to play games so we played Phase10, Spots and Spicy Farkle. I am definitely going to buy my own Spicy Farkle. I have played Farkle before, but Spicy was even more fun. As the picture above indicates we also went to the Western Museum. It sure was very cool. If you ever are in OKC check it out. So worth it. Lots to see. We also had a toast with French 75's for Rick's heavenly birthday on Saturday and also enjoyed his favorite gin and tonics as well. Bruce was the gracious host in putting us up...that worked perfectly. My trip home was smooth and the traffic was light all the way home. Fortunately GPS takes you thru Fort Worth instead of Dallas, otherwise it would of added another 50 minutes to my travel time. So thankful that I was going south as accidents and backups north bound in OKC, Dallas and Waco. Glad to be home safely. Sarah watched the dogs and watered the plants for me. So glad that I have a few Chapel family and friends able to stay at the Chapel and do this for me. After I retire I may need a few other people since I plan to do a little more visiting so you can always text me. Sarah always does an amazing job. Dogs are glad to see me, but so calm as Sarah spoils them with extra love and hugs. All plants hanging on, but noticed a couple plants in the circle by the house have been eaten...hmmm - wonder if it is deer...probably. My dear friend Tammy is in the hospital. Many of us are praying for her and Tim. Say some extra prayers for her. They are being strong as they go threw this challenge, but extra prayers from many never hurt. I am very excited that this past week I have booked 2 small events for 2 different families this fall. You'll here more about them after the fact. Also got another inquiry for a fall 2027 wedding that I actually will get to do a tour with the couple later this month. I was telling a few people that I have 6 or 7 inquiries in the last month, but when I write back - "crickets". That just means they are not the right couples, families for the Chapel. God has always brought just the right couples for Rick and I and I know He will do the same for me as I keep the Chapel going. LCR night is nearing - Sept 20th (4-7) will be here before we know it. If you are able to come and support Healing Heart Rescue please RSVP on the event or text me at 254-760-1590. I know this week I need to start doing individual texts so the room can be full and Healing Heart can take home a nice piece of change. The Friends of the Salado Public Library event is coming up as well on Oct 4th. I know the blogs are not as often as Rick's as he had more time than me, but I will try to at least get one every week and maybe two, but starting in 2027 I will definitely be able to write more often. Oh...speaking of 2027, brides and grooms mark Saturday, January 9th for Wedding Homecoming. I will be creating an event in the near future. Because of other commitments I had to do it earlier in January this year. Woohoo...I have confirmed Vance is available. I need to do a few other things this evening so until next time...make memories.
