More pictures of china, Captain Rick? Really?!??!?
One must be exposed to many patterns to become immersed in the china, Grasshopper... Well, anyway, I think it's fun to share our treasures, so git over it! This little beauty is assumed to be from occupied Japan after WWII, and as a result, has more value and is more unique. We only have one of these, but the important oval seal and excellent imperial striping make this very, very special. Cake me. Canape me. ....can you hear it? Ready to go to work! So thankful fo

An elegant air of Richmond, Virginia surrounds this plate...
Well, the rainy weather last night inspired me to share a few more antique china photos. May be a little dull for some, but I think it's one of the best ways to showcase who we are as a chapel, since the pieces fit right in here and also are so much a part of our couples big day. The story behind this particular set of 4 cake/canape plates is that I was in Richmond, VA for business about 22 years ago (Frank Sinatra was still alive, people!) and had a day to kill. I ended u

Prayers continue for our excellent Rory!
As many of you already know, Rory was injured in a bad accident not too long ago, and has had multiple surgeries, lots of pain and a way to go. Every day, we say prayers for Rory, and the other day, as I passed the photo of he and Amy in the chapel, I was prompted to say another prayer, so this photo is a great talisman and reminder to pray some more as I pass by. Blessings to Amy and Rory and we can't wait until he's up and running again! Not much going on at the chapel to

"Might as well face it, you're addicted to love!"
It's a good thing we have a legitimate reason for our addiction to antique china...sometimes I think, subconsciously, that's one of the reasons we built the chapel! This is a lovely example of a plate center that looks great. The vintage collection of miss-matched china isn't for everyone, but every bride and groom who have used it have added magic and intimacy to their big day. More pieces coming....of course...we can't seem not to stop a a vendor's booth when just the rig

The BIG DAY finally came, and it was fabulous!
What a magical wedding day for these two! Congratulations, Mara & Chance, and it was so very wonderful to have your wedding here. Everyone was so delightful and truly seemed to be enjoying the joining of your two families! Weather was sunny and happy and so were the bride and groom. We've had 2 people tell us that they never saw the bride and groom NOT smiling all day and all night! Many years of happiness for these two, and the 'event painting' that happened was amazing

A nice, pastoral setting for sure!
Took this photo yesterday afternoon after I put the neat wind flowers in the pots so that they could turn well. Not the most organized look right now, but it was a great place to sit and enjoy yesterday's outstanding weather. So hoping next weekend's weather is a carbon copy for M&C's great adventure. Sure loving the fact that things are so green at this time of the year, and cannot remember such green-ness at this time of the year in the past! Chillin'/laid back day at t

Sometimes birthdays at the chapel are almost 2-dimensional!
Think of the calories saved when the cake is merely printed on the napkin, rather than served...but JUST as beautiful! These were the lovely birthday napkins Sheri brought for the impromptu party....and as usual... not a detail was missed. Such a pretty graphic, and typical of her sense of style. Had a fine birthday dinner of evil foods and yummy stuff! Now to sleep for about 3 days! All is wonderful and well at the chapel, and we're praying for our friend, Jean, who's in

An English geranium wedding theme!
Can it be September, already!?!?! Well, you can tell I've been reading a novel set in the UK, since geraniums are on my mind. What an amazing way to bring the outdoors inside in a perky and earthy way for a special celebration. Hardy, happy and stout, these little fellows could really 'splash up' a wedding celebration, AND be around for a long time afterward as part of the newlywed's garden plan! Fun. Mild activity level at the chapel today! Need to get the vendor list
